Local Pack
The Local Pack is the section of Google search results that displays the top three local businesses for a given query. It's also known as the Local 3-Pack and appears as a map with three business listings directly below it, above the regular organic search results.
Why the Local Pack matters for fitness businesses
The Local Pack captures the majority of clicks for local searches. Businesses in the top three positions receive significantly more calls, clicks, and direction requests than those ranked fourth or below.
What determines Local Pack rankings
Google uses three primary factors to decide which businesses appear in the Local Pack.
A CrossFit gym with a fully completed GBP, 80+ reviews, and consistent NAP across directories will typically outrank a competitor with a stronger website but a thin or inconsistent local presence.
How to rank in the Local Pack
- Claim and fully optimise your Google Business Profile with accurate NAP information, high-quality photos, and your primary service categories.
- Collect and respond to customer reviews consistently. Review signals are one of the most important factors, and are a low hanging fruit for many businesses.
- Ensure your website includes location-specific content and schema markup that tells Google where you operate and what services you offer.
